Challenge
With the passing of over 10 years since their last album, Fendahlene were back in the recording studio and wanted an album cover that would match their new musical direction and their distinct lyrical content. With a digital release planned first, the cover would have to be distinctive, working well on small social screen sizes such as on Spotify and Apple Music, but also be adaptable for the vinyl and CD formats.
Response
Influenced by the band’s music and lyrical content and inspired by conversations with band members, the album cover was developed with three key thoughts in mind: journeys, changes and disillusionment. Encapsulating the album’s title, ‘High and low and back again’, an image was crafted to split the cover into three distinct panels, with negative space of the sky playing an important part to capture and convey this feeling.
